Bathrooms with uninspired tiled interior, white lighting and cold, stark finishes are a thing of the past. Warmth finds its place in the bathroom in the form of wall textures, furniture, lighting and flooring. More and more the bathroom is being considered as the heart of the home, a sanctuary to relax and unwind or a place to have a quick shower and feel at ease with your surroundings. Wood is often used to create this mood, offering a subtle, warm element. Our new range of Metreaux furniture which is available in Balinese Teak and African Wenge lends itself very well towards this trend.
Nowadays, mirrors are considered as feature pieces instead of just a functional item. There are many variations - ornate, backlit or full length. With the increased use of wallpaper in the bathroom, using back-lit mirrors will allow the wallpaper to really shine! In our showrooms we favour Cole & Son wallpaper which offers a design solution for any style of room. Full length mirrors behind freestanding basins are both elegant and practical. Previously granite was the go-to material for vanity tops but now quartz is a fresh, new material being introduced into the bathroom. This trend is not only limited to counters but is also used to produce velvety-smooth bath tubs and basins. Interesting metallic finishes are another big trend for 2015. We are seeing a move away from regular chrome finishes toward warm colored copper, brass and oil rubbed bronze finishes. Stainless Steel is also proving very popular right now.
